Product Description Horton, the lovable elephant, tries to protect tiny creatures on a speck of dust. An easy reader with delightful verse and pictures. Full-color illustrations. Ages 4-8.Format: Hardcover, 58pp. ISBN: 0394800788 Publisher: Random House, Incorporated Pub. Date: May 1976 Recommend Age Range: 4 to 7
Amazon.com Surely among the most lovable of all Dr. Seuss creations, Horton the Elephant represents kindness, trustworthiness, and perseverance--all wrapped up, thank goodness, in a comical and even absurd package. Horton hears a cry for help from a speck of dust, and spends much of the book trying to protect the infinitesimal creatures who live on it from the derision and trickery of other animals, who think their elephant friend has gone quite nutty. But worse is in store: an eagle carries away the clover in which Horton has placed the life-bearing speck, and "let that small clover drop somewhere inside / of a great patch of clovers a hundred miles wide!" Horton wins in the end, after persuading the "Who's" to make as much noise as possible and prove their existence. This classic is not only fun, but a great way to introduce thoughtful children to essentially philosophical questions. How, after all, are we so sure there aren't invisible civilizations floating by on every mote? (Ages 4 to 8) --Richard Farr

Horton, My Hero May 12, 2008 J. M. Roberson (Bowling Green, KY USA) If you haven't seen "Suessical the Musical" by all means do so. This clever adaption of Suess books and characters is just wonderful. The Horton books are primarily the source of this children's musical. Horton again shows what a fine elephant he is by standing fast to his ideals. Children can learn a lot by reading this rhyming, entertaining book.

See this movie with your children May 1, 2008 Ayemen Bond with your little ones as you relax with them to view this movie. The child in you will thank you for it. This is not a movie to see without children. Give the DVD as a gift to a little one but let the children enjoy it. Everyone is important, no matter how small is a message that sinks into you as you watch this movie.
The Kids Love it April 29, 2008 Brandon Allen (SLC, UT) The kids saw the movie and really enjoyed the book as well. What more can I say, it's Dr. Seuss!
Horton Hears A Hoo April 26, 2008 Judy Dreisbach (Levittown, Pa.) I loved the book and my granddaughter was thrilled to get it. My 2 year old Grandson is too young to voice an opinion but his Mother was happy with the book.
