Product Description Meet Nancy, who believes that more is ALWAYS better when it comes to being fancy. From the top of her tiara down to her sparkly studded shoes, Nancy is determined to teach her family a thing or two about being fancy. How Nancy transforms her parents and little sister for one enchanted evening makes for a story that is funny and warm -- with or without the frills.

Fancy Nancy is Stupendous! February 12, 2010 D. Roedner (Austin TX USA) My four-year-old daughter loves this book. Yes, she is in her own fancy stage and relates to the book's protagonist. But there is so much more to this story than the surface narrative. The illustrations, for example, are almost a parallel story in themselves. My daughter loves to point out how Nancy's toddler sister tries to copy everything her very cool, very fancy big sister does. And the way the book opens on Nancy's room before and after it was made fancy provides a wonderful opportunity to point out the differences, AND (for the reviewer who thinks this book is all about materialism and consumption)a lot of laughs about how inexpensively, simply and ingeniously that fanciness was achieved. Nancy's family is wonderfully supportive and loving. When she advertises a "How to Be Fancy" class on the refrigerator, the whole family drops what they're doing, shows up, listens and takes notes. This is a terrific story that encourages kids, especially girls, to be confident in their choices, makes it ok to be an individual and reminds them of the power of family.
charming in any language February 10, 2010 Erika M. Hernandez (overseas military) I had ordered this book to supplement the at-home reading practice of my first-grader, who is in a partial immersion class. Due to the illustrations and context, it was easy for her to understand. She needed some help with pronunciations, but nothing that frustrated her. The story is adorable, the character, Nancy, is charming; and the book is a great addition to a 7-year-olds bilingual library.
Cute & Fancy February 3, 2010 retrowrestling (SGV, California) A great kid's book full of cute and colorful illustrations depicting a fun and whimsical young lady sure to please the younguns out there. Good way to get the kids to start reading at an early age. Books are awesome!
Little Girls Will Love Fancy Nancy January 26, 2010 Charluke (Westchester, New York) My daughter received her first Fancy Nancy book on her second birthday and immediately fell in love with it. She has since gotten others in the series, which are just as enjoyable. The story is very cute and it has taught my daughter, as at very early age, that there are many (and sometimes fancier) ways of saying the same thing. Instead of saying ice cream, my two year will ask for a "parfait." Sometimes, she will even say "Merci" instead of "thank you." She has not asked for a pen with a "plume" yet, but I am sure it's only a matter of time. We read this book every night! The drawings have amazing detail (adults can appreciate a lot of the subtle humor in them) and the expressions on the faces of the characters are terrific. I can't imagine any little girl not loving Fancy Nancy!
