Product Description
Help your child learn some of life's most important lessons! Sharing - yes. Whining - no. Telling the truth and cleaning up - yes. Arguing and not following the rules - no. Seems simple enough, but as a kid it may be unclear when they know the right thing to do is not necessarily the most comfortable to express. Tied to the million-plus selling book, Boundaries, from Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend, Tori Cloud helps children learn at an early age the value of setting and keeping boundaries to be safe and happy. Boundary lessons include: - Sharing
- Truthfulness
- Bullies
- Cleaning Up
- Strangers
- Respect
- Arguing
- Obedience
- Thankfulness

Not many books like this one- out there! October 19, 2008 I. Major (Nashville, TN) We have been reading this book to our daughter since she was 2 years old (a year ago) and she absolutely loves it! The illustrations are beautiful, but the most valuable aspect of this book are the lessons. Our daughter believes what the book says and she really wants to obey and follow what Sophie & Sam "teach". Great way to build good priciples in your child's heart. I love the book as a mom and get very excited to see our daughter wanting to hear it over and over! More importantly to hear her saying: Not good- Sophie & Sam say: Yes to Respect...or Yes to clean up...incredible!
Great collection of topics, but too simplistic solutions June 19, 2007 Tanya Dennis Sophie and Sam is written by Tori Cloud and based on her husband's million-plus-selling book, Boundaries (written by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend).
Sophie and Sam are siblings learning when to say "Yes" and when to say "No." The book is divided into several stories following these two mice and their friends. Told in rhyming verse, all the stories are easily relatable to children. Bible verses are given at the end of each chapter to reinforce the lessons learned. Here is a list of the chapters:
Say YES to Respect Say NO to Arguing Say YES to Thanking God Say YES to Telling the Truth Say YES to Sharing Say NO to Whining Say YES to Clean-up Say NO to Meanies Say YES to Following the Rules Say YES to Manners
The illustrations by Becky Valentine are adorable. The characters are personal and emotion-filled. The colors are mostly pastel.
What I Like: Seldom does one book cover so many important topics! I like following the same characters as they encounter different situations. I also like that the stories are short, perfect for early readers or quick reminders in the middle of the day. My daughter loves this book; she will have me read several stories in one sitting.
What I Dislike: The rhyming is not perfect. Some spots are stretched or disjointed. Also, the conclusions come quickly. The author does a great job setting up the problem, but ends it in "Brady Bunch" fashion: everything tied up with very little explanation of why or how. I know we're reading about mice, but I would prefer a more realistic ending to some of the stories.
Overall Rating: Good.

Sophie & Sam June 10, 2007 J. Blair This is such a good book! My friend borrowed my copy and then purchased one for her little girl. Very well put together!
Great resource for the younger reader! April 26, 2007 Dan Panetti (Plano, TX USA) Wow, what a fun book for children. Sophie and Sam are mice and they live out some incredible life lessons in this book dealing with the issues of living as children of the light. Cloud and Townsend weave in biblical principles and the corresponding Scriptural reference for each story in a fun and easy-to-understand manner for children. The book has ten stories dealing with issues such as telling the truth, sharing, arguing, and showing respect for other people. The book is wonderfully illustrated and easy enough to read for a younger elementary aged student. Great book for parents to read though with their children to make sure that the biblical principle is taught and caught! Highly recommended.
Great book January 29, 2007 mom with (Waukesha, WI United States) This book is adorable. There are so many great lessons in one book. It was like the author was looking at my kids and wrote this book:) It is Bible based, but not in your face religious. My kids love it. I am going to buy one for my son's 4K teacher for her classroom. The only reason why I am giving it 4 stars, is the binding is easily coming apart. I am hoping I just received a defected one and others are fine. I like it so much that I am paying to have it rebound (or buying a new one, if the cost is too much).
