Product Description Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

A Bridge to Volume 3 September 6, 2010 Timothy Haugh (New York, NY United States) These days I tend to wait for the entire series of books to come out before I keep reading. So, after reading and enjoying The Hunger Games, I read this second book in the series once the third and final one, Mockingjay, came out last week.
I really enjoyed the first part of the novel. Seeing Katniss back in District 12 as victor, trying to piece together her life, is fascinating. I was intrigued by the victory tour, the glimpse of the various other districts, and the rumbles of discontent in the various districts. The tension-building in the renewal of harsh Peacekeepers in District 12 is excellent. The encounter with President Snow in her house remains eerie, long after reading it.
The return of the Hunger Games in the second half, however, has the feel of retreading old ground. Granted, it's different this time around and it's interesting seeing the new challenges of the arena. I also liked learning some more of the history of the games (like Haymitch's experiences in the arena). Still, I couldn't shake that "been there, done that" feeling and what seemed like the forced invention of Quarter Quell to take Collins where she wants to go.
But in the end, we are left with a leaping off point into the final volume. There are plenty of complications that are yet to be resolved. I am very interested to see how everything plays out for Katniss, her friends and family.
catching fire September 5, 2010 Catching Fire
The Hunger Games series is an epic tale of a young girl in an apocalyptic world. The second book, Catching Fire, clearly displays the quality of the series. It is an amazing story of action and romance. The second book begins where the first left off. It tells of a girl named Katniss who has just won a bloody game along with a boy named Peeta who also lives in her district. Katniss later realizes that by winning the games she has become the inspiration of a rebellion against the evil Capitol and President Snow.
I highly recommend this book and the series to young adults everywhere. Because of many awful scenes I do not believe that young readers should read this book. What I really admired about the book is that it begins smoothly, than everything takes a turn for the worst. It has many parts that make you wonder what will happen next. When you are done with the book it makes you want more.
non stop action September 5, 2010 Jennifer K. Mcelheney (Toledo, OH) Book 3 of the hungar games does not disappoint. I was riveted from beginning to end. Non stop action and drama keeps the reader glued to the pages. I highly recommend this book, but you must read the first two and they are both excellent.
Pure AWESOMENESS!!!! September 4, 2010 This book is awesome. Before I would have to go to Volleyball pratice, this book was in my hands, opened, with me reading every word. I promise you won't be disappointed with this book.
Okay, so we all know who Katniss is. And just when you think her life couldn't get any worse, you're wrong. Every 25 years, there is an anniversary for the Hunger Games. It is called the Quarter Quell. This year is the 75th Hunger Games, the third Quarter Quell. Every time there is a Quell, the Capitol doea a special Hunger Games. In the third one you are reaped from the existing victors. And Disrtict 12 has three victors: one female and two male. That means Katniss is going back to the arena. While there, her mentor Haymitch has told her to remember who the enemy is and get some allies. She's got her allies but who is the enemy?
After reading this one, the third book wasn't out yet. I was so anxious to have all my questions answered: What happens to District 12? Is Peeta alive? Where is Katniss's family? Etc.
I made sure every waking moment I was reading this book. After reading the first and second book I started picturing me and my friends in that same situation. I loved this book soooo much. Hope you will too!
Also, this is NOT a spoiler, but you will be blown away at the last sentence of the second book. I know I was.
Best book of the trilogy September 2, 2010 Lisa Jill (New York, NY) This was by far the best book of the Hunger Games Trilogy. You have at least gotten to know the characters and feel for them, and it is before they completely drain the life out of you with Mockingjay. This was a really good read and an excellent complement to the first book.
